Baby Sippy Cups – Best Transition Cup For Babies To Toddlers

By on October 29, 2010

Can you hear the screaming?  You try to take your baby’s bottle away and a new battle has begun.  This can be quite a daunting task when you try to replace your baby’s bottle with a baby sippy cup, but it can be done.

Some babies go directly to a cup, although that is fairly uncommon.  Most babies need a little help and that’s where transition sippy cups come in.

When looking for a transition baby sippy cup you will want a spout that is soft and that feels similar to the nipple your baby has been using.  If you switch to a hard sippy cup right away, the end result is usually that your baby has liquid running down their chin, onto their neck and ultimately, if you don’t have a bib on, right onto their shirts.  This is quite cute, but as an adult, it’s not a great feeling to have a wet shirt on any part of your body.

The transition sippy cups are available in the softer spouts.  There are many brands out there and they are all different.  The baby sippy cup we’ve found to work the best is still the #1 selling sippy cup in the USA.  It’s a brand called Nuby.

There are reason’s why the Nuby sippy cup is preferrable.

1.  There are different styles for different stages.  There is even one that has a nipple, to a spout, to a straw spout in one sippy cup.  The best thing about that cup is that it has replacement spouts available for the last two stages.  That way you don’t have to throw away a perfectly good sippy cup.

 2.  The spouts are made of 100% medical grade soft silicone.  As a result, they feel more like the nipple that your baby might be used to.

3.  The cups are inexpensive and available at most Walmart, Target and Babies R Us stores.  They are readily available online for your convenience.

4.  They are priced right.  You can buy one baby sippy cup and then buy replacements thus saving money and keeping unnecessary plastics out of the landfills.

 5.  All of the Nuby sippy cups are BPA free.

6.  If you follow the directions and use them correctly, they won’t leak or spill.  Depressing the spout makes the valve come open and the liquid come out so it wouldn’t be a good idea to place them in the bottom of a diaper bag without having them enclosed in a baggie.  Better yet, just put them on the outside pocket of the diaper bag.  That way you can stand them up and they won’t be pressing on anything.  With the Nuby cups make sure you have the notches lined up as well.

When considering a good alternative from bottle to baby sippy cup, Nuby is a great choice.  You can find out more here:  http://www.nubysippycup.com
