Bikram Yoga

Many beginning yoga students are enjoying the benefits and the fun of Bikram yoga. Bikram yoga has increased in popularity recently as more and more people are turning to this form of exercise. One of the key benefits of yoga is the ability to gain control over one’s life. Not only do you learn certain positions but you gain breathing control. You even learn concentration techniques which can be applied in daily life to decrease stress and live more healthy in general.


Another term for Bikram yoga is known as Hot Yoga because this form of exercise is traditionally done in an exercise room that is heated to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the room should be at approximately forty percent for the humidity level. This enables the body to heat and to sweat during the beginning yoga workout. You do not have to do cardiovascular workout movements to benefit from the cleansing effects of the body sweating during an exercise program with the room heated and the increased humidity.

There are many different movements and combinations to use with Bikram yoga. It is traditionally used with beginners but anyone that enjoys yoga can benefit from these series of movements. In fact, there are twenty-six types of movements in this yoga technique that are followed through a series. These movements are combined with two specific breathing techniques that compliment the movements and their benefits for the body as a whole.

The twenty-six different movements in the series for Bikram yoga focus on different parts of the body. There is focus on maintaining an over-all body appearance and control over the body’s movements.
