Bleeding during pregnancy is seldom a good sign and should be told to your prenatal health care provider immediately. There can be numerous causes for bleeding during pregnancy without meaning that you are going to lose the baby. The key is to let your doctor know immediately so that proper care can be given to you and to your baby.

Some women experience one or even two light periods during their pregnancy during the first trimester. This is not the normal scenario though so do not assume that is supposed to happen during the pregnancy. If you have bleeding or spotting during the pregnancy let your doctor know.

When the egg attaches to the uterine lining some women will experience a small amount of bleeding. At the end of the pregnancy when labor begins and the cervical plug releases, women will experience bleeding as well. Bleeding can be a sign that you have started labor, particularly if you are experiencing cramping or discomfort. Just always let your doctor know what is happening with your body.
