Change the Look of Your Bedroom with Bedroom Window Treatments
Dressing up the windows of your bedroom can have a strong impact on the overall look of your bedroom. There are different styles and fabrics that you can use for bedroom window treatments. Basically, you have three choices when making that decision.
First one is to go for curtains and drapes. It is the most conventional method but it offers you many choices. You can choose a fabric that either matches the rest of the bedroom décor or you can also go for contrast. You can also coordinate the window treatment as per the theme of the bedroom. To decorate the window from the top, you can opt for valances. They provide a soften touch to the window. You can either go for fabric valances or can choose the wooden ones. You can then paint it, to give some classic touch.
Drapes give a French touch to your bedroom windows. You need to go for heavier and rich fabrics so that it gives the classic touch. For windows that have a lot of length, go for softer colors and heavy fabric. But if the windows are small, you can choose some bright colors or floral pattern.
Other choice is to go for wooden blinds or shutters. These add privacy to the bedroom and can be mixed and matched with drapes, curtains and valances. Shutters are of two types- café and plantation. Café shutters only cover bottom half of window. To open, they just swing and let the light enter the room. Plantations shutters cover the entire window and have louvers. These can be opened or closed for light or for privacy.
Blinds can also be made of fabric. This gives the soft touch to the bedroom. You can choose any fabric and theme to match with the rest of the bedroom décor. You can also use frills, fringes and ribbons to make them stand out. Roman blinds fold up the window and are easy to use. They look informal and are a good choice if you have kids in the house. Festoon blinds are the ones that make use of more fabric. They look puffy and go well with the romantic theme of the bedroom. They are good choice for wide windows.
