Dermatologist Or Trichologist – Which One Do You Need For Hair Loss?
If you are experiencing hair loss or thinning, there might just be something you can do about it. But what? There are many different causes of hair loss- including hereditary, medical and stress causes.
There are three different professionals that you can see to address any hair loss or thinning problems.
1. Medical doctor- there are many underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disease, etc., that can result in hair loss. A medical doctor will be able to perform tests to determine if illness or disease is causing your hair loss. Once your condition has been treated, your hair loss problem should go away.
2. Dermatologist- if your condition is hereditary or a result of other known skin or hair diseases, the dermatologist will be your best bet for seeking treatment.
3. Trichologist- if you have very minor scalp and hair thinning, then a trichologist will be your best bet for seeking treatment. A trichologist is not typically a medical doctor (although dermatologists can receive specialized training in trichology) and cannot prescribe medication. They will typically have various treatment options that include different creams/lotions or maybe nutritional therapies.
Hair loss might eventually happen, but there are many things you can do to slow it down or even stop it completely. Prevention of hair loss is really worth the time and money in the long run. The longer you can keep your hair, the better.
