Gift-Giving Ideas – Scrapbooks Make Perfect Gifts
Giving a scrapbook as a gift is one of the most heart felt things that you can do when someone is having a major life event come their way. For example, every new mom wishes that she could have a scrapbook chronicling the life of her little baby, but what mom has the time to make one? It can become very frustrating to watch your baby grow up right before your eyes without being able to capture each memory in a scrapbook.
Consider the delight on the new mom’s face at her baby shower when she opens up a custom made scrapbook. A gift scrapbook is a scrapbook where all of the work is already done, and all the recipient has to do is stick their pictures and journaling in the book. You will save them time and give them a beautiful way to display their treasured pictures. Now the busy new mom only has to find time to place her pictures in the book because all of the designing and embellishment has been done for her!
When creating a gift scrapbook for someone, consider first if they have any experience with scrapbooking. If they are new to the hobby, consider giving them a smaller sized album, such as a 5X7 of 8 ½ X 11. This will give them room for their pictures without overwhelming them. When designing the pages, leave space on the page for around two pictures and one spot for journaling. Your spots do not have to be full frame sizes, but avoid hard to cut shapes like hearts or flowers. The places to place the picture should be squares and rectangles because these are easy to measure and trim pictures to fit. Consider sending along a few disposable cameras or rolls of film, unless of course she has a digital camera.
Consider giving a few basic supplies along with the album. You will want the person to have photo safe adhesives and some good scissors or other cutting tools to be able to add their pictures to the album. You may want to give them a few customized embellishments that they can add throughout the album. Also, consider including typed instructions on how to finish the album. Encourage them to include journaling to make their pages more personalized.
With a little forethought, there are many special occasions where a gift scrapbook is appropriate. Some ideas include a scrapbook for a new bride with the colors of her wedding in the design or a book for someone graduating from high school or college. Perhaps someone is moving into a new house; a scrapbook would make a lovely housewarming present. Often, individuals just need a little nudge to get them started on the road to being new scrappers. Your gift scrapbook could be the poke that gets them started!
