How to Make Soy Candles

Looking for information on how to make soy candles? While there are as many different ways to put one together as there are candle makers, the essential elements are all the same. Some things to consider before you go shopping for ingredients are; what kind of fragrance are you going to add, if any; what color do you want your finished candle to be; and how large do you want to make it. Once you know these things, you are almost ready to make your soy candle.

The first thing that you will need are soy wax chips. You will melt these in the microwave per bag instructions. A Pyrex container is highly recommended as the wax will get very hot. Most instructions will include how many of the chips you will need to melt to make the candle in the size you want.

Once the wax chips are melted completely, you can add the fragrance and stir it around to make sure that it is evenly dispersed within the wax. Mix it until the wax is clear. This means that the wax and fragrance oil have melded. After the fragrance is added, it’s time to add in the dye. Dyes come in many different forms for adding to your candles. However to keep the guesswork to a minimum, try using the liquid dyes.

When the dye has been added in and thoroughly mixed, pour your “candle” into the proper container that has the wick already in place. You can secure the wick with a touch of glue beforehand to keep it from slipping around as you pour. As soon as the wax sets, you can trim the excess wick. Making your own candles is a pretty cool hobby and one that gives back every time you use them. For more ideas on how to make soy candles visit www.SoyCandleIdeas.com.
