You have recently gotten your first prescription for contact lenses and you’re not sure what to do the next morning when you go to put them in. It’s hard for first time wearers to remember exactly what steps the doctor showed you before you left the office. How to put in contact lenses takes some practice, and a lot of patience. Just make sure that if your prescription is different for both eyes to put in the right one. They are marked left or right on the box to help you.

Firstly, you should wash your hands before you even think about grabbing that clean contact lens. Make sure to use an anti-bacterial soap then rinse and dry your hands thoroughly. Carefully open the contacts to have them at the ready, and squirt a bit of your contact lens solution in the palm of your non-dominant hand. Take your index finger on your dominant hand, dip it into the contact solution in your palm to wet it, then carefully slide the first contact up and out of the container.

Holding it firmly between your index finger and thumb, use the contact solution in your palm to dip the contact in and give it a swish. Getting the contact good and wet with the solution will help it seat against the eye better. Dry your palm on a lint-free towel and using your non-dominant index finger carefully pull down on your bottom eyelid. Place the contact as close to the center of your eye as you can, being careful not to blink. Once you feel it stick to your eye slowly pull your finger away and then blink. This helps to settle the contact in the center of the eye, giving you clear vision. Repeat this process for the other eye. For more ideas on contact lenses check out www.UniqueContactLenses.com.
