How To Treat Chronic Constipation in 5 Quick Steps
Chronic constipation is one of the most painful digestive disorder. It is also very common. Adults and children alike suffer from it frequently due to poor diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. Symptoms of chronic constipation include painful abdominal swelling, backup of feces resulting in undue pressure being exercised on the stomach, and straining that can result in much tears in young kids. 1. Review your diet by analyzing your food choices and water intake. Consider if you are consuming enough fiber or water. Inadequate fiber can lead to bowel difficulty and insufficient water can affect the consistency of the stools that your body produces.
Also, consider adding non-soluble fiber in your diet. Non-soluble fiber is known as nature’s broom, increasing your body’s ability to evacuate any waste. Increasing the water intake will serve to adequately liquefy the food ingested to promote a simpler digestion process.
2. Consume prune juices to help ease chronic constipation. In severe cases, try adding some prune juices to your diet. Prune juice mixed with the nutrients ingested will provide for the body’s ability to evacuate the foods once the nutrients have been extracted in the colon.
3. Reduce the dietary sypplements that you take. Decrease the dosages of calcium and iron supplements you ingest. Ask your doctor if you can take a gentler formulation that will not harden your stool. You may also consider taking these nutritional requirements in natural whole foods rather than in dietary supplements.
4. Consider a colonic irrigation if your chronic constipation does not respond to the change in diet. You should only undertake this option in consultation with your doctor. The goal in a colonic irrigation is to clean out your colon and remove the hardened feces that may have become embedded against the colon’s mucosa. When this happens, the pathway is narrowed, preventing evacuation of waste from the body.
5. Lastly, follow up a colonic irrigation by ingesting probiotics or by using a yogurt enema to repopulate the useful bacteria that inhabit your colon. Probiotics is easily available in local health stores or online sites.
It is important that you do not become reliant on commercial laxatives, which can help in relieving the discomfort of chronic constipation without changing the offending problem. You gut will reduce its ability to evacate waste on its own and when this occurs, chronic constipation will become a tougher condition to treat.
