Rectangular Trampolines

Many people think of a round piece of equipment in the middle of their backyard when you mention the word trampolines. However, trampolines today are not always round in shape. You can find many different styles of rectangular trampolines that are growing in popularity for home use. Did you know that originally trampolines were only designed as rectangular trampolines? Since the majority of home use trampolines are round, many people naturally think of a round shape when they hear the word trampolines.


Rectangular trampolines are most common and popular in competitions. The original exercises and competition moves were designed for rectangular trampolines. As a consequence, even though round trampolines are available the majority of equipment in competitions and for competition practice is with rectangular ones.

One important feature that a rectangular trampoline offers is the spotting ramp sides. Traditionally, there is a wider spotting side on these pieces of equipment than the round ones that are found in so many backyard homes. This makes it nice for people that are doing trampoline exercises. The disadvantage; however is that you have less circumference of space around you when jumping and a mis-jump can be dangerous.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both the circular and the rectangular trampolines. The good news is that both styles are available now for professional and home use.
