Dolley Payne Madison: An Exhibit is an excellent opportunity to explore historical research via primary sources.
Students are able to view the life of Dolley Payne Madison through letters, images, a timeline, and historical events of
the young United States, 1768-1849.
Replete with information, Dolley Payne Madison: An Exhibit offers a glimpse into the First Lady who knew
every president from George Washington to Zachary Taylor. Highly regarded for saving White House artifacts during
the War of 1812 and for her charm and wit, Mrs. Madison's death was honored as a state occasion, Her funeral was attended by
the president and the cabinet officers, members of the diplomatic corps, House and Senate, justices of the Supreme Court,
the mayor and city leaders, and "citizens and strangers."
Rating: An outstanding resource.
