Week of 11/22/99
The product of a five-year grant, the Kentucky Migrant Technology Project, features online courses, links, teacher lesson plans, and more for the 20,000 migrant students who reside in Kentucky. The purpose of the grant is to use technology to strengthen the academic achievement of targeted migrant students in core content areas, decrease their drop-out rate, and increase skills and comfort level in using technology. Another goal is to increase the number of migrant students who complete the GED examination, improve continuity of education for students, and increase parent involvement.
Activities such as Young Authors and CyberCircles, a CD-ROM project, free materials, assessment information, and other features round out the site.
Rating: A comprehensive and important model that illustrates the power of collaborative efforts.
