It's President's Day this Monday. In the rush to have an extra day off for the weekend, we've combined Washington's and Lincoln's birthday holidays into one to honor all presidents. Let's see, Jimmy Carter is a Baptist, George W. Bush is a Methodist, Jack Kennedy was a Catholic,...what was Zachary Taylor? Herbert Hoover? Come to think of it, how many presidents actually had an affiliation with a particular denomination? Who didn't? The answers to these and related questions are given here on the Religious Affiliation of U.S. Presidents page. This is part of the Adherents.com web site, a growing collection of over 43,870 adherent statistics and religious geography citations: references to published membership/adherent statistics and congregation statistics for over 4,200 religions, churches, denominations, religious bodies, faith groups, tribes, cultures, movements, ultimate concerns, etc. Here you can find out how many Lutherans live in Chicago or what church John Wayne attended. This is an interesting look at the people we have elected to the highest office in the land and their religious ties. Who will be next? You can contact Adherents.com at webmaster3@adherents.com.
