Our Shared History
Week of 02/14/2005

http://www.cr.nps.gov/aahistory/

Our Shared History is a collection of the exciting and innovative sites related to African American heritage available across the NPS web site, ParkNet. The sites vary widely from far-reaching travel guides to new information on the Underground Railroad to ways to find African American ancestors who fought in the Civil War. By visiting these sites, students can learn about our past and the history and events that commemorate our journey through several centuries as a free and sovereign nation. Rediscover the resources and people that form one part of the mosaic that is the United States of America today.

The National Park Service will continue to work with academic, preservation, and other partners to ensure that all sites associated with African American heritage in the national park system are preserved and interpreted for the education and enjoyment of all Americans and many others around the world. The Cultural Resources, Recreation, and Conservation Web team, representing programs dedicated to preserving and protecting America's cultural resources, will ensure that this web site is updated as new materials are launched across ParkNet.
