The first step to finishing hardwood floors is to remove all dirt and debris from the flooring that might have occurred during the installation process. You will need to apply a good coat of finish on the hardwood floors to help protect them. Instead of scratches and nicks going directly to the wood, they will often just slightly damage the surface. The surface will be the finishing material instead of the actual wood. This in turn will prolong the life of your floor.

Approximately every three months it is good to go through the entire process of finishing hardwood floors again. This will prolong the life of your flooring.
