Watching Out For Human Rights Abuses

By on May 4, 2008

Many organizations exist to help protect individuals from human rights abuses and monitor and document these violations. Some of the organizations are committees of the United Nations, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. The information that is compiled by these organizations is published in many documents and books. One of the hopes of documenting these violations of human rights is to put pressure on the individuals and groups that are committing these acts of violence, and therefore promote change.

The Children’s Rights Division is an organization that works to stop human rights abuses that are being committed against children. In many countries throughout the world, children are being made to work in factories, are being forced into prostitution and are forced to fight among adults in war situations. Children are very susceptible to violations of human rights because of their age and immaturity. Children are also unable to speak for themselves or form groups that can help put a stop to these types of abuses. This is why organizations such as The Children’s Rights Division are so important to help put a stop to these violations and protect the rights of the child.

Another group of people that face particular types of human rights abuses are women. Many women throughout the world face persecution, oppression and deprivation of human rights simply because they are women. Unfortunately, these types of violations of human rights against women are highly tolerated in many countries. Human Rights Watch is one group that helps monitor breaches of this type, while trying to put an end to the degradation of women and bring about a change in the lives of the victims of these horrible crimes.

Whether the issue is discrimination of a child in education because of their race, sexual orientation or gender, or the starvation of a group of people, these human rights abuses should no longer have a place in any society. All individuals, young and old have the right to a life of peace and security. The basic fundamental rights that most of us take for granted are rights that many individuals in the world do not have. Organizations like Amnesty International are attempting to bring about changes in the world and bring a better quality of life for individuals who face human rights issues on a daily basis.
