There is no single more obsessive sport than golf. I've played them all, so
I
know. The average golfer is terrible. Yet, golf is often all that the
average
terrible golfer thinks about.
I, as an average terrible golfer, am always in the market for
something to help push that swing from the ridiculous to the sublime,
to cross that line from hacker to golfer. Well, I found
something that took me just a little closer.
Golf Tips-Breaking 100 is a valuable aid in restructuring the average
golfer's swing into a decent imitation of an above average golfer's
swing.
This is a very comprehensive training aid. It was written with the golfer in
mind, rather than the computer user. Therefore, it is not particularly
loaded
with bells and whistles. You don't miss them.
In the main menu, you are given the option of entering a five day lesson
program, analyzing your trouble areas, building your own workshop, or
playing
a par 5 hole in virtual reality.
I recommend that you proceed into the five day lesson. This is no quickie
fix, but it is instead a comprehensive makeover of your game. It takes a
while to make this transformation.
The lesson starts, as it should, with your grip. In very clear language and
sharp graphic images, you are taught just how to hold on to that club.
Analogies are used that make it simple.
Excellent, non-system-taxing RealTime videos are employed in showing you the
other fundamentals of the swing. It is easy to go forward or backward and go
over what you've seen. In fact, you'll probably want to do this as you go
outside in the yard and practice!
You can also build your own workshop by selecting problem areas in your own
particular swing. I recommend that you complete the entire five day program
before you try this.
One of the slickest features about the CD is Play the Hole-Golf Strategy.
Here, you are shown a tough (Nicklaus designed) par 5. You type in your
average score (from 95 to "have you considered taking up tennis?") and play
the hole through shot and club selection. Your results are presented through
video and still graphics. It's a blast!
This CD will certainly help the duffer. It will also help the golfers out
there like myself, who have managed to shoot some decent scores despite
having swings that look more like seizures. Patti McGowan and Adam Schriber,
the teaching pros featured on the program, will patiently take you to the
level of game that will make you want the next CD in the series, Golf
Tips-Breaking 90. I sure hope I get to review that one...
