Introduction to SafeHaven

Why We're Pro-Life

  1. Because God is the Creator of life: "The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:3
  2. Because we are His workmanship. Because He loves us even in the womb: "For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I Praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16
  3. Because He knew us even before we were formed in the womb: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart..." Jeremiah 1:5
  4. Because even before we're born we are important to Him: "...Before I was born the Lord called me..." Isaiah 49:1b

Why we don't believe in protesting abortion clinics

We believe that in order to best serve the cause of life, we, as Christians, must love those in crisis pregnancies as Christ loved similar people in His lifetime. He is our example. Christ did not protest or picket. He met people where they were--often one on one. He revealed their need for a Savior, then loved them as no one had before. His way was to meet them in the midst of their crisis with truth, compassion, genuine concern.

It is our desire, at SafeHaven, to let the mothers and fathers know that we don't just want to save their babies--we want to help them too. We care as much for the parents as for the children, not wanting either to be sacrificed for the other.

It is our opinion that by protesting, we (Christians) have drawn a very clear line in the sand--creating a chasm, if you will-- which makes it uncomfortable and undesirable for those with unwanted pregnancies to cross. Instead of opening our arms to give them hope we have pushed them away--even into the very arms of those who seek to profit financially from aborting their babies.

Additionally, we have given the mainstream media powerful material to use against us, enlarging the chasm between us and those we wish to help.

We respect those who follow their convictions by protesting in a peaceful manner as we believe they sincerely feel their actions are pleasing to God. While we do not agree with their tactics we respect their dedication and determination for the sake of the babies.

Who is God, anyway?

According to the Bible, which is the authority, God is triune, meaning He is three in one. Like water can take three forms (solid, liquid, gas), God the Father can also be present in three forms: God the Father, the Son, Jesus (who was God in the flesh), and the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, ever present. That means He knows everything without exception. Nothing is beyond His power. He is everywhere. Nothing escapes God. From Him nothing can be hidden.

His Character

God is love. He is loving. There is no end to His compassion. He is righteous, meaning in Him there is no evil, no bad thing, no wrongdoing. He cannot sin. He cannot lie. Because He is perfect, without sin, He cannot allow sin to enter into His presence. Because man was born sinful, there was immediately a problem. But because of God's great love for mankind, He provided a way for man to be free from the guilt of his sin. That way was through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to earth in the form of man to tell us about God, to teach us His ways. He also came so that He could be the Passover Lamb, holy, pure and blameless, upon which our sins would rest. It was through His substitutiary death on the cross that He paid the penalty for the sins of all mankind. All that is required of man to receive the free gift of eternal life with God is to confess his sinfulness, surrender his will to God's, and to accept the atoning sacrifice of Christ. Then and only then can that person enter into an eternal relationship with the Creator of the universe, God the Father.

What does God say about you?

What does God say about forgiveness?

  • His Forgiveness for You
    1. His forgiveness is complete

"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:8, 9

    2. He does not treat us according to our sins:

"The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him." Psalm 103:8-14

    3. Once our sins are forgiven, they are gone forevermore:

"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." Jeremiah 31:34b

  • His commands that you forgive others

    1. Forgive in the same measure you have been forgiven:

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

    2. Love your enemies:

"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you..." Matthew 5:44

    3. Do not seek revenge--instead, live in peace

"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." Romans 12:17, 18

Our Standard for Ministry

We at SafeHaven desire above all else to serve the Lord our God with our lives:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength...Love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:30-31

This is our ministry standard. This is who we desire to be. I know we will fall short of this often, but thankfully, even when we fail our loving Father picks us up, dusts us off and sends us back out there to serve Him still.

We acknowledge that no ministry is ever brought to fruition without the working of the Holy Spirit and that if even one life is positively affected by this ministry, it is to His credit not ours. We are His willing vessels through which we hope and pray He will bring glory and honor to His name while simultaneously drawing others to Him.
