As you probably know, I’m all about nostalgia. My I remember JFK site has been a labor of love for two years now, and the site’s basic premise is nostalgia, specifically of the Baby Boomer flavor. Today’s FamilyFirst pick is a flash movie that runs about five minutes. It’s called Take Me Back to the…
OK, today’s FamilyFirst pick is just a single graphic. So not a lot of commentary. Guitar Hero is one of the hottest games out there. It’s a refreshing change from the gory blast-em-ups that traditionally hold the attention of gamers. The premise is that you play some tasty licks on your axe to the tune…
Ever heard of the Polyphonic Spree? Hey, I’m stuck in the 70’s, so don’t go by me. But they have a new album coming out called Together We’re Heavy. And to promote it, they have put together this bonzer Flash game site. The premise involves rescuing members of the group from this strange world. It…
OK, I’m filing today’s FamilyFirst pick under “History”, although the veracity of the claims made here are completely open to question by me. History, or pseudo-history? You decide. The premise: five sets of objects have been found which are historically paradoxical. For instance, a metallic hammer with a wooden handle. Embedded in sandstone which is…
A colleague at work turned me on to today’s FamilyFirst pick. It’s called, simpoly enough, woot.com. Their premise is simple enough. One day, one deal. And what a deal it is! For example, at presstime, it was a Dyson DC18 Slim All-Floor Vacuum for $259.99 + $5 shipping. WOW!!! That’s at least 100 bucks cheaper…
Scientists ply their trade dangerously. You see, many of their theories and explanations defy logic. They also sometimes go contrary to public opinion. But since their ideas are based on experimentation and observation, this means that what they surmise may change with further enlightenment. That is the premise behind today’s FamilyFirst pick: Strange Science. Note…
I created a site a while back on a whim. You see, I’m a big John Grisham fan. I love the books, and more often than not, I love the movies too. So I created grishambooksandflicks.com, and opened the floor to those who would debate whether the book or movie was superior. Anyhow, I’m hoping…
Today’s FamilyFirst site is a subject that I find completely baffling: mathematics. I did really well through school, with one exception: math. Math was the subject that earned me b- and lower grades, in the case of ninth grade algebra, MUCH lower :-(. So it was with great trepidation that i reviewed today’s selection: Math…
Today’s FamilyFirst site is one fraught with recent controversy. The subject is a very recent tragedy. And the fact that the two are combined make a point, which I would like to stress. The controversial site is Wikipedia. Its premise is outrageous. Anyone with something to say about a subject can post it. The results…
Today’s FamilyFirst site has been covered years ago, but it has undergone a dramatic reworking recently. Is it better? That’s up to you to decide. The site is Jump the Shark. Its premise, in case you haven’t heard of it, is that at some point most TV series go south. They may start out excellently,…
