Toddler Halloween Costumes

Halloween is approaching – you have a family of five to dress up and you think finding a toddler Halloween costume that your antsy little baby will agree to wear will be hard. Well, think againToddlers are the easiest group to dress for Halloween because you need not – and should not – be creative. Unlike their older siblings and even their parents, they do not want to be exclusive. They want to wear exactly what everyone else is in their age group.

Even though we hate to admit it, we are raising our kids in a licensed character era and even though the degrees of attachment will vary, nearly every toddler is in love with a cartoon character or two or three. So do not waste time conjuring up the most creative costume so that your three year old stands out in his playgroup. He would rather be a run-of-the-mill Power Ranger, Dora or Bob the Builder.

We can try to fight the cartoon and video influence, but if you can’t beat em, join em is what most parents of toddlers end up saying. After all what is a Halloween costume all about? Making your kid happy or getting kudos for the greatest ingenuity from other moms and dads?

One of the downsides of the love for licensed characters is that you may not be able to prepare a year in advance when most costumes are marked down drastically after October 31st. Unless you have a die-hard Spiderman fan, you never know what movie might be in’ come Halloween of next year. And is it really a two year olds fault that everywhere he looks, he sees repetitive images of the same movie paraphernalia.

From cereal boxes and yogurt drinks to Happy Meal toys and beyond, it would be only but natural for a toddler mind to imitate what he sees plastered around him all the time.

While toddlers can be very demanding and are notorious for throwing tantrums, they can be easy to please if it has something to do with their Cartoon Idol. To save a few bucks, ask your child what his favorite costume would be and enter that in your search engine, chances are you will find various styles (and prices) for the same character. Look for free shipping offers or combined shipping if you have other costumes to buy and it may work out cheaper than driving from store to store.
