Audacity

Open source software.
Many, mainly those who create and sell proprietary commercial software, would have you believe that you just don’t get as high quality an offering in software or operating systems when you use open source stuff.
Hmm, let’s examine this for a moment.
FOSS (free open source software) is a decidedly non-profit venture. There is money to be made through FOSS, but by and large it’s modest when compared to that obtainable through software companies that manufacture software that you are criminally liable for “decompiling,” i.e. exposing the programs’ source code.
FOSS, on the other hand, has the source code freely available. You can even tweak it if you’re so inclined.

An example of a FOSS program that possibly is better than any of its commercial counterparts is Audacity.
Audacity is a sound editing program that has stunning power.
However, it’s also simple enough for a newbie to use.
Download a free copy and try it for yourself. Oh, it runs on Linux, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems.
