One of the more popular sections in my local bookstore is the biography section. There are volumes of books about famous and infamous people and how they achieved their rise to prominence. Now it is possible, via the magic of the Internet and cable television to learn those same details from the comfort of your computer chair.
Today’s FamSite is called Biography.com, and is the online companion to the television network of the same name. Here you can learn everything you want to know about just about anyone, you can see and hear them as well. But it is more than just programs about people. There are features about our times and culture as well. Recently there was a feature called “Hitmakers: The Teens Who Stole Pop Music”. It looked at pop music of the 1950’s and 60’s and the young people who wrote the songs that shaped that era, such as Carole King, Barry Mann, Gerry Coffin, the list goes on. That type of programming is common to this site and channel. The range of topics and people that are chronicled on Biography.com ensures that there is something for everyone here.
