Growing up, my mother and uncle read, and read a lot. There wasn’t a lot to at times on the plains of Oklahoma in the 1930′. Their choice of reading was varied, but the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew were among their favorites. As I grew up, I read every Hardy Boy book I could lay my hands on, but Nancy Drew just wasn’t for me. Today’s kids have the same choices, the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew are still around and popular. But other book series such at The Boxcar Kids and The Babysitter’s Club are becoming even more popular than the old favorites.

Today’s site is about on of the new series of books. It is called Cyber.kdz, and is about a group of kids that have formed a secret club over the Internet. They live all over the world, and communicate via computers. That is why it is so neat to learn about them over the net. At this site, a visitor can learn about upcoming books and other Cyber.kdz news, learn the slang of the club, and take a test to measure your knowledge of it. It is possible to submit ideas for both books and slang, and see photos from Cyber.kdz events. You can even visit Bruce Balan, the author, at his online office.

This is a series of books that hold great promise. The subject matter is certainly contemporary, and can capture the attention of kids who may otherwise have their nose stuck in a computer screen somewhere. It is both a site and a series worth checking out.
