The free exchange of ideas is one of the cornerstones of our society. Being able to debate and discuss all sides of an issue help all to understand fully what that issue is about. With our country currently making choices about what direction our government will take in the new century, today’s FamSite is a very appropriate one.

It is called Debate America, and is an online forum for forum for citizens to raise and discuss issues that are important in their cities and towns. There are a variety of online forums to join and discuss, or if you can’t find one, then start your own. Some of the topics under discussion currently include using taxpayer money to build a sports stadium, improving public safety in schools without limiting creativity, and finding out if free trade is in the best interest of the United States. This site provides citizens with space and easy-to-use tools to raise, think about, and discuss issues in terms that reflect the concerns of their communities across the country.

So get ready to have a good discussion, and remember that free speech is a right that we all have in this country. Now is a good time to exercise that right.
