Discount Bathroom Vanity

When you’re planning and redecorating your bathroom, discount vanities can save you some money. It probably doesn’t surprise you know that redoing your bathroom can cost a lot of money. However, you can cut down on your expense by several methods, one of which is by purchasing discount vanities. Many different home improvement and discount stores sell bathroom vanities at a discount price. Before you buy, do some homework. Here are some questions you need to ask:

Question One: Should You Sacrifice Quality for a Good Price?

If you’re considering buying a discount vanity, you might think that you have to sacrifice quality for price. In fact, most of these places are selling these vanities at a discount price because some minor bit of damage happened to them or they are in some way irregular. In most cases, these scratch and dent marks are very slight, and you won’t be able to see them unless you’re looking very carefully or they’ll require just a bit of touch-up repair. A very minor scratch or dent will not make your bathroom vanity of any lower quality. Of course, if damage is very visible, obvious or extensive, then that’s not a vanity you want to buy no matter how good the price is.

If you do buy a vanity that has been slightly damaged in some way, then the next three questions become even more important than they were previously.

Question Two: Does Your Vanity Come With A Warranty?

Now, it should be noted that some vanities from discount stores are not damaged at all; these stores simply buy these vanities at volume discounts or as last year’s in design and pass the savings on to you. However, if you do happen to see a true a scratch and dent vanity that is available at a reduced price and you are considering buying it, you need to make sure that the warranty still applies. Basically, you want the damage to your vanity to be very slight, hidden or hard to see, and only cosmetic in nature. You don’t want any damage that would affect the function of the vanity, or its usefulness or durability. If the price you pay for the scratch and dent vanity does not include a warranty, you’re not saving yourself any money; don’t buy it.

Question Three: Where Did the Vanity Come From?

Before you buy, make sure that you know where the vanity came from. In some cases, the vanity may simply have been returned because it was the wrong size or color for the previous customer. Situations like that have no impact on the quality or durability of the vanity itself. Therefore, this would not impact your purchase, again, as long as the vanity was fully under warranty as previously discussed. However, if the damage to the vanity was more than slightly cosmetic, such as slight scratches or dents in “invisible places, or if the vanity was damaged in some major way (such as if it had experienced significant water damage while sitting in a warehouse), again, this is not a vanity you want to buy. The rule of thumb is that you should make sure any “damaged” vanity you buy only has mild, cosmetic nicks or scratches and does not impact the warranty, usefulness or durability of the vanity itself. In fact, the damage itself should not be visible to the casual user with perhaps a bit of touch up. There are plenty of opportunities out there to buy totally functional and attractive “scratch and dent” vanities, so don’t settle for less.

Question Four: What is the Vanity Made Of?

If you find a good-quality vanity that was simply returned by the previous customer because it was the wrong fit, for example, or because it has very slight cosmetic scratch and dent damage, then it’s probably a very good deal for you when you’re looking to purchase one. However, if the vanity is very cheaply made or if it was returned because of its poor quality by a previous customer, again, this is something that you need to stay away from. Because discount stores already deeply cut most prices, even a fully “perfect” vanity will cost you much less that it will at your typical retail store. Finding one that has a discount because of very slight cosmetic damage and/or return, with no problems present, is even more of a bonus.

Once you’ve answered all the above questions, you should know whether or not you want to purchase a particular discount vanity you are looking at. When you purchase discount bathroom vanities, you can save a lot of money. However, you have to make sure that you find out every detail possible before you make the purchase, in order to avoid future problems you may regret.
