eBLAST
Online search engines are plentiful. I have one on my computer that checks multiple sites at the same time, and I can add more as I desire. But there are specialized sites that can be easier to use than the mainstream ones, and today’s FamSite is just such a site.
Called eBLAST, it is Encyclopedia Britannica’s Internet Guide. It is a worldwide navigation service that classifies, rates, and reviews over 125,000 web sites. Here you can are clearly and concisely described, rated according to consistent standards, and indexed for retrieval. These are not just throwaway sites, but ones that can be used again and again. There are other unique little niceties here as well, such as Bookmarks of the Smart and Famous, and New to the Net (a tutorial on helping the novice find their way around the net).
Building on over 200 years of printing experience, the eBLAST site is one that can be of use to students and adults alike. It is one site truly deserving to be in your bookmark file.
