Hairy the Caterpillar’s Page for Kids
One of the challenges to someone creating a web page today is to have one that can appeal to a wide range of users, yet be focused enough to have an orderliness about it. In other words, it should have something for everyone, and not be a quagmire of links and activities.
Today’s site is one that has achieved a focus in age groups (under 18), and has a wide enough range in subject matter to keep one entertained for hours. The premise of the site is that the Internet can be fun for kids, whether they are playing games or searching for homework information. The site is called Hairy the Caterpillar’s Page for Kids. There are links for Easter, such as coloring activities and visiting the Easter Bunny. There is also a section on Animals, Bugs, and Fishes, an area called Educational But Fun (lots of homework resources here), Small Kids Links (an area for pre-schoolers and toddlers), and a section for on-line letters and stories created by children. The amount of material here is staggering, especially with the variety of links to other sites.
This site deserves to be a bookmark on every computer. It has enough variety that you may not need to visit it everyday, but making it a regular stop on your cyber-space tour is highly recommended.
