Kidz Privacy

The amount of information that is exchanged over the Internet is staggering. Data, pictures, files, books, the list can go on and on. Some of this information public, which anyone can read, and some is personal and something you don’t want anyone but the intended recipient to know. When and how to give this information out is something adults can handle, but sometimes our young ones have a problem with giving out too much.

Today’s FamSite is one that helps parents educate their children about what to give out when someone on the Internet asks for information when entering a site. Called Kidz Privacy, this site explains a new law went into effect on April 21st of this year. It requires children under the age of 13 to have their parent’s permission to get personal information. The intent is to have parents share with children the effects of giving that information out, and also to be aware of where they are spending their time in cyberspace. There is also information here for the parents, and for the owners of websites that request the information.

This site is an excellent chance to help educate your little ones, and possibly yourself, on some of the pitfalls of the Internet. Be sure to share this site with a friend who may be interested as well. Enjoy your stop here today.
