McKinley Memorial Library
Today we continue our visit to locations in around our country that have connections to the past leaders of our country. The next stop on the Presidential Tour is Niles, Ohio where we visit the last president of the 19th century and the first president of the 20th century.
The McKinley Memorial Library is the site where we can learn about William McKinley, the 25th president of the United States. Here you can visit his birthplace, the museum, other links to interesting items about him, and an ongoing project to digitize the documents of his administration. The most significant event during his term was the Spanish-American War, whose effects are still being felt today. He was also the fifth president to die in office, being assassinated in 1901 while visiting the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.
