McLean Media’s Storyline
One of the benefits to improved technology is the ability to interest young students about sometimes boring subjects. Presenting that subject in an interesting, non-threatening way can make learning fun. The company is McLean Media’s Storyline, and they are located in Grass Valley, California. They have combined the latest in multimedia technology with subjects such as history, science, and biology. One such example is the multimedia CD-ROM of Bodie, California. It was at one time a booming gold mining town in the 1870’s and 1880’s. Today it is a ghost town and California state park, being maintained as it was when the last person left. This CD features video clips, maps, games, photos, and interactive environments that teach users the history of not only this town, but the old West as well. It is a truly unique educational experience. But also available is a multimedia CD on Women in Science, and a video based on a the Native American story of Baby Rattlesnake.
