Back in the ’60’s, one of the hottest rock groups was four longhaired mop tops that sang some really groovy rock and roll. No, I am not talking about the guys from England, but the ones from sunny southern California. Their weekly television show was top rated for a couple of years, and their albums sold millions. Today’s FamSite is the official site of Mickey, the fun loving drummer.
Called Mickey Dolenz.com, it is the official website of (who else) Mickey Dolenz. Here you can take advantage of the latest internet technology and visit either the Shockwave! version or the HTML version. At either version, you can find out about this very talented singer/actor/director/producer. He was involved in television before the Monkees in a series called “Circus Boy”. Since the end of the group’s series, he has been involved in doing television voiceovers, and doing television production work in Great Britain. He has also been involved with Peter, Davey, and Mike with Monkee reunion events in the past years.

You haven’t heard the bad news? CBS FM is no more. Now it’s some stupid ‘Jack’ station that has taken away many oldies stations around the country. No more Micky, Cousin Brucie or all the other wonderful DJ’S, NO MORE CBS. I am livid, I can’t believe they did this to us.
I too, like Laura and Barbara am going through withdrawals for Mickey and CBS-FM. I wish Mickey or Cousin Brucie would let us know somehow what is going to happen. Every morning on the way to work I click to a variety of stations, but none of them satisfy like Mickey in the morning!!

I live on the west coast and was in NYC seeing a play on Sunday, June 12th and as we were walking down the street I saw Mickey Dolenz and thought… he is so familiar… and then his wife said “mickey…” and I knew it was him! I was thrilled to see him! I was a total Monkees fan and seeing Mickey made my day!! He looked great… and was very pleasant to me… even though I probably appeared to be stalking him. Anyway, it was a great day!!!

I too am extremely upset about Mickey Dolenz not being on the radio in the morning. I have grown up listening to WCBS radio. Cousin Brucie and the rest. What is a girl to do? I even had my children listening to WCBS radio in the morning. I am being asked what happened? What am I suppose to tell them. Come to my house and explain yourselfs to my chldren and me. Big mistake. BIG MISTAKE. You have lost a faithful listener. I have gone elsewhere. Still looking for Mickey Dolenz somewhere on the radio. Help me find him. Thank you for reading this.
I am so upset about this stupid JACK radio hiJACKING CBS FM and with it, Micky Dolenz off the air!!! What an incredibly insenstive move. Baby Boomers like me, now have nothing to listen to. Micky, if you are reading this, your show, with Karen Stewart, Mr. G, Brucer the Producer and Mike Fitzgerald was so terrific. You and the rest of the Monkees will always be number one in my heart and I feel like you are my brothers. I really love you all. You need to know that you four can do no wrong in my eyes, but you even won over people who were not even Monkee fans with your warm and energetic morning show. My husband, who was a dyed in the wool newshound and station surfed between CBS News 88 AM and 1010 WINS AM became a loyal listener!!! I almost died of shock when I got into his car one day and I didn’t have to manually change the station!!! He even set our clock radio to CBS FM (which had been set for 27 years to CBS 88 and had been a bone of contention for all those years as well.) We had pillow fights over your Birthday Brain Busters to see who would get the answers first! I am soooo angry! It was the only station that I felt confident playing in my first grade classroom. I knew that there wouldn’t be anything inappropriate that the kids would hear if it were on. I have no idea what these people were thinking…oh, they weren’t thinking. The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that now you will have time for another Broadway show. You were great in AIDA and I would love to see you in CHICAGO. All the best.

I listen to Cousin Brucie on 101.5 in Boston on Saturday / Sunday evenings. However I don’t know if he’s still on now. I don’t see any info on their website. Not even a goodbye. Like they never existed! I listen to (or used to) the WCBS radio Station on AOL @ work. The last time I turned on the net Jack :P was on. I thought my boss changed the station. Needless to say I was not happy when I found out it no longer exists. Which by the way was about 5 minutes ago! GRRRR, I loved listening to Mickey in the AM! Mickey you are dearly missed. Where is everyone now? All I can say is they can take Jack and shove it!. Out of loyalty to CBSFM, I refuse to even have it programmed in the car. I put another station in their spot. There is a station in south jersey 107.1 that play some oldies and I have switched to them in the morning, but IT IS NOT THE SAME. ALL YOUR LISTENERS MISS YOU TERRIBLY.

I was pleased to read in today’s (4/27) Star Ledger that Jack -FM is one of the 3 lowest rated full-market FM stations in the New York area.
You dropped again from 3.1 to 2.5. CBS Radio now has the 3 lowest rated radio stations. GOOD JOB !!!!
CBS chairman Les Moonves said “CBS Radio is not achieving acceptable growth” and will sell off some stations
I hope JACK – FM is out of business before your one-year anniversary in June.

It’s not all bad news. Most of your audience went to WMTR and they are now the #1 AM station in the area.

BRING BACK THE OLDIES

I totally understand how all of you people are feeling about Jack F.M. interfering with the tri-state area’s greatest oldies station because I have been feeling the same exact way. Having grown up in New Jersey, WCBS F.M. was a perfect station to listen to on the way to the beach when hearing summer oldies such as “Beach Baby” by First Class, “We’re on Vacation” by Connie Francis, and “Summertime is Here” by War just to name a few. These nostalgic songs have always made my trips to the ocean very memorable. Well, I can still be reminded of my fun times at the Jersey Shore by hearing all these great songs on WMTR, which has the same exact oldies format plus friendly on-air personality. As a matter of fact, I read an article about this AM oldies station in the newspaper. The article is titled “Picking Up Where CBS Left Off,” and this perfectly describes the major purpose of WMTR. Chris Edwards, the WMTR host, is well aware of this as he states that WMTR is not only the top AM station in New Jersey, but has also beat some of the FM stations. It is quite obvious that he is hinting how numerous oldies fans resorted from 101.1 F.M. to 1250 A.M. because nobody appreciates hearing a recording of Joel Hollander’s bossy voice as he ridicules WCBS F.M. and then says “This is Jack F.M. Playing what we want!” A real professional in the radio business would interact closely with the audience and be considerate of what is important to the listeners. Lastly, I enjoyed the time when I heard Bob Shannon broadcasting on WMTR and hope that he eventually becomes a full-time member of their crew because he has the ideal personality and would get along extremely well with Chris Edwards and Erin Vogt.
I saw Micky at the Puyallup fair this last week and he was awsome! I havn’t had my heart touched by the music in a long time until he came on. What a thrill. Also, he said “what is up Darlin”. I was star struck and helpless. I will always love the monkee’s and especially Micky Dolenz. Good luck Micky with Pippen…I used to do plays. They don’t do that here where I live in Chehalis Washingon. Thank you for the most prescious time last saturday. Love always you fan Chris Gowin
