Reading is one of the greatest lessons a child can learn. But in this day and age of high tech toys and entertainment, it can be hard to get a young person interested in a low tech item such as a book. But with today’s Family First site, it is possible to do both, and have some fun along the way. Called Book Adventure, this is a site that encourages children to read. By registering at this site, they can win prizes by reading books. With the help of a parent or teacher, who monitor the online account, the child can search for books that interest them in a variety of ways, such as by age, area of interest, author, or grade level. There are over 3000 books on this site to choose from, so choosing a one shouldn’t be too hard. The list can be copied down or printed out and then taken to the library to select the book. After reading it, the child takes a short quiz to prove they read the book, and then it is on to the prize page for their reward.
