Sony Laptop Computer Batteries

Sony is a name that was made famous during the 1980s with the Sony Walkman, and the company continues to produce a range of quality, reasonably priced electronics. Lately, the Sony name is also coming to be associated with laptops, since the company has made some significant strides in this market. A Sony laptop battery is one feature that adds to the computer’s extreme portability. Cared for properly, a Sony laptop battery is likely to last for a significant time.

When you first purchase your laptop, it is recommended that you ‘drain’ the battery. That means that the battery should be allowed to ’empty’ – lose all charge – before you recharge it. During the normal course of using a laptop computer, it is more common to recharge the battery when it still has some charge left in it. That’s because many of us tend to travel without a power cord (now that laptop batteries, like the Sony laptop battery, can keep going for five hours or so without being charged) and then plug in the cord as soon as we get back home or to the office. The battery will rarely be fully drained. However, it is important that it drains completely the first time you use it, and a good idea to do so periodically during the life of laptop.

The other precaution everyone should take is to make sure your Sony laptop battery is clean especially around the contact points. Dust that accumulates in this area interferes with charging, and over time you will find that your computer may not be running as well as it used to. Finally, to conserve power, adjust your screen save setting – it should come one after no more than three minutes – and the brightness of your screen.
