The Child Friendly Initiative

It is a situation that all parents have dealt with at one time or another. You’re in a store, trying to shop, and your little ones are underfoot. It would be great to have a place to leave them for a few minutes while you did your shopping. Or waiting at an airport for a delayed flight, wouldn’t it be nice to have a place for young ones to wait. There are places for adults, but not many for kids. Called the Child-Friendly Initiative, this site is working to make real world space available in office buildings, public places, or government facilities. In short, places that adults can go, children should be welcome as well. It is their mission to encourage the development of active and healthy children by promoting an understanding of children’s needs and designing public and private spaces to ensure these needs are met.
