The Little Mermaid

It was years ago that I took my children to the neighborhood theatre to see a movie. While we had a VCR, I wanted them to experience one of life’s little pleasures that I had enjoyed growing up. That pleasure was to experience a Walt Disney animated feature film in the setting it was intended to be viewed in: a motion picture theatre. The film we saw was “The Little Mermaid”.

For those of you that missed it the first time around, or whose children were too young or non-existent, now is the time to capture that feeling. For a very limited time, Disney Pictures have re-released that same “Little Mermaid” film into theatres for the Thanksgiving holidays. All the old friends are here, Flounder, Sebastian, Ariel, Prince Eric, and King Triton. Yes, even Ursula and her pet eels are back, also. It is a truly magnificent experience to see this picture in a motion picture theatre. The sound, the color, the motion on the screen, is all a thrill to see.

So if you want to give your young one a memory that will last a lifetime, this is a film that you want to put on you must-see list. But do it soon, as it is a short run for this Academy Award-winning film, and who knows when it will return. (A safe bet is not in this century).
