The Tom T. Hall Page

Music has been used over the years to tell stories, and to entertain people. One of the most gifted and talented songwriters I have ever heard of may not be widely known to the mainstream music market. But he epitomizes the use of a song to tell a story. His name is Tom T. Hall, and today’s Family First Site looks at his authorized web site.

Called The Tom T. Hall Page, this site is an online reference and discography for an artist whom President Jimmy Carter once called “�a poet with a guitar”. The Old Storyteller, as he is known, has written such classics as “Harper Valley PTA”, “I Love”, “Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine”, and “Me and Jesus”. He has even released a very popular album of children’s songs, showing he is a truly all around writer and singer.

I saw Tom in concert in Hawaii in 1974 while I was in the Navy. He is a dynamic performer, and gives a great show. Spend some time at his site, and then find some of his music, and enjoy it. You will be glad you did.

  1. As a long time reader, I was very fond of the novel by Mr. Hall (“Spring Hill, Tennessee”), a very sweet book. It has actually a cherished place in my library.

  2. I wouldn’t give Tom T. Hall the time of day. We went to a concert of his about 17 yrs. ago. He came in late, didn’t appoligize and left as soon as the normal quitting time, without an encore or any requests. Up to that point I thought he was a very good performer.

    Everybody has an off day and you should consider yourself fortunate to have seen a legendary talent such as Tom T. Hall perform live. Personally, I give Mr. Hall five stars as a performer/storyteller.
    I attended one of his concerts in Reno Nevada in 1982 when I was just 17 years old. He was on time, put on a first class show and met with me back stage to autograph one of his novels. He even took the time to talk with me for at least 15 minutes – it could have been longer, but I decided to leave for fear of imposing. I had idolized the man for years and once I had finally seen him in person, I found him to be one of the most respectable American’s of the century.
    I’m sure we have all arrived somewhere late and failed to apologize – give Tom T. a break.

  4. I just wanted to say I love Tom with all my heart. I have known him all my life and he was best friends with my cousin Frank Wright who died of a brain turmor. Tom back years ago to help out Frank, through a big show to help Frank pay for his hospital bill. It was a huge success and Frank died later on but got his sugery due to his life long pal. Tom and Frank grew up togerther and were life long friends. Frank was the Mayor of Wise, Va and was a fine up standing Christain as Tom himself. For the show where Tom left, he had a very sick member of the family and had to rush back to them. I am sure if you had a sick family member, you would stay and give a good show, but not every one is as perfect when it comes to family members. I only wish I had kept in touch with Tom, as I am dying myself to cancer and liver probelms. I don’t drink or do anything bad. I have to much Iorn in my blood and it’s called H&H Heregitary Hemochromatosis. I had a liver transplant back in 11/12/1995 but now have it again and my Doctor now says I only have 15% left to life.   5. I agree that people have a bad day.Tom T. Hall is one the best in Country music or I guess I should say was since hes retired. I went to one of his concerts when I was Nine or ten years old. My mother asked me to go up to the stage and ask him to sing I Love,I did and just as I got there he started singing the song,so I just stood there trying to figure out what to do next when he motions to me to come closer and he picked me up and set me on the edge of the stage and sang I love to me.Of course he added with freckles because I had them.It was one of the best moments in my life and I will always remember with great fondness. When I went to school the next day I told my friends and they would not beleive it. But that does not matter now I know it happen. He was very nice with children. I also love his song Sneggy Snake even though that song of his is hardly ever written about or talk about.
