The Unofficial Fibber McGee and Molly Page

Every so often, on the Family Site of the Day, I like to feature sites that have a common theme over a period of several days, or in the case of our visits to Presidential homes, over several months. I had an inspiration over the past weekend when I visited today’s FamSite, and thought it might be fun to share with you some of the sites of old time radio programs I visited as a result of that visit.

The first stop on this nostalgic visit to the golden days of yesteryear is with a couple whose names are familiar to your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Their address of 79 Wistful Vista is the well known home of Fibber McGee and Molly. This site salutes the long running radio program (from 1936 to 1959), which was originally sponsored by The Johnson Wax Company of Racine Wisconsin. Here you can find out about the personalities of the program, listen to and download some of the funniest episodes, look at a radio scrapbook, and visit several related sites. There are even a few scripts to read, so you can find out the work that went into producing an old time radio program.

It is hard to realize the impact that radio in general, and this show in particular, had on the day-to-day life in the middle of the 20th Century. Enjoy your stop here and be sure to share it with a friend.
