Toonopedia
Comics and cartoons have long been a source of entertainment for both young and old alike. But have you ever stopped to think just how many different ones there have been over the years. The creator of today’s FamSite has, and it makes for a very interesting place to visit.
Called Toonopedia, this site shows and tells about the comics and cartoon characters of yesterday and today. From Dudley Do-Right of the Mounted Police, to the Green Lantern (1940 AND 1959 varieties), to Scrooge McDuck and Roger Rabbit, the variety presented here is truly amazing. Each character has a well-researched page giving their background, with hyperlinked text to related toons. There is a section on the companies that publish these strips such as Gold Key and Fawcett, as well as an area of links to other such sites. Especially interesting is the Today in Toon History section, where a certain event is highlighted for the current date.
This is a site that oozes with nostalgia. No matter what your age, you will be able to spend some quality surfing time here. Enjoy your visit and be sure to pass it on to a friend.
I’d like to see a copy of the old funnies: The Teeny Weenies. It was back in the 50’s I believe.
I would also like more information on the Teeny Weenies. I looked forwrd to them every sunday, and would cut them out and save them in a scrap book, which of course is now long gone.
