Victorian Bedroom Decorating
Victorian bedroom decorating can dramatically change the appearance of a bedroom. Most bedrooms can be converted to Victorian style with a little bit of effort and work. You can enjoy the luxurious setting of a Victorian bedroom in just a few short days.
Traditionally the paint colors in Victorian bedrooms are very neutral and warm. Completely re-paint bedrooms to natural beige, rich cream, light tan or soft light brown color. The next step after selecting the central color of the fabrics is to stencil a light colored complimentary stencil around the entire room as an upper border.
The room should have full and dramatic drapes with scallops. The drapes should be of a heavy material and extend completely to the floor. Pull the drapes and attach to the wall to expose a window or even a thin, sheer curtain for privacy.
Convert bedside tables to glass topped tables with iron or iron cast legs. Decorate the tables with perfume bottles, small picture frames and even a silver trimmed hand mirror. Use small lamps with Victorian theme for lighting in the room on the night tables.
You will want to add a small window seat for your Victorian bedroom decorating project. You can create one out of various materials. Cover the window seat with a thick, grey colored material and cover the area with throw pillows that match the bedding and draperies.
At a local thrift store, flea market or consignment shop purchase several Victorian bedroom pictures to display on the walls above the bed. This will finish off your Victorian bedroom decorating project.
