Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum
As we continue our visits to Presidential Libraries, today we head for the heartland of America, to a park 10 miles east of Iowa City. There today’s FamSite cyber visitors will find the library and museum of Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States.
Herbert Hoover was President from 1929 until 1933. His term was marked by what is known as the Great Depression. But by visiting his museum, you will find that he was a man of many talents and interests. He was orphaned at an early age, and while raised by relatives in Iowa and Oregon, he went on to graduate from Stanford University. He spent time in the gold mines of California and Australia, as well as building coalmines in China. But he went on to great humanitarian feats as well; all of which are described at this site.
