This is a common game that has become timeless. This has become timeless because anyone can play this game – young and old. There are many variations to this game but the same basic principles. This is a good game for children because it can develop their observation, hiding, tracking and running skills. This is also a good time to develop social skills through interaction with other players.

To start the game, a person is designated as “it”. There are also cases where there more than one “it”. The “it” first counts up to a designated number while turning his back. The counting will give the other players the chance to hide. When the counting is done, the “it” will start looking for the hidden players. As soon as one player is found, the “it” will call out his name and try to tag him. The player found will have to hit the “base” without getting “tagged” by the “it”. The first person tagged by the “it” will become the “it” in the next round. There are also variations where the other players are called to come out once there is one player that was already “tagged” by the “it”.

There is also another version to this game. Instead of the “it” looking for the other players, only one will hide while the rest will look for him. When a player finds him, he joins him in the hiding until the other players finds them as well. The last person to join the original player will be the loser. This variation is called “sardines”.
