Kid’n Around
Today we have a site that is unique, in that is mostly written by kids. It is an e-zine for kids, but it’s okay if their parents read it to. (And it is available in paper versions also).
The site is called Kid’n Around, and is interesting to view. It is a monthly magazine, and the areas the kids write about are Big Ideas, Made by Kids, Book Worm, Sports, Science, What’s Hot, and even an area for Parents. In Science, for example, Jane Hoffman writes about an earthworm experiment. It is well written, and a project that can be accomplished by children without too much adult guidance. The whole magazine is set up like this. There are a few adults that write also. In Sports, the story on Jackie Robinson is written by longtime Seattle sportswriter Greg Brown.
So if your little ones are looking for a site that will help improve their reading skills, this would be a good one to go to. It is both entertaining and educational at the same time. Have a great trip.
