Lives, the Biography Resource
Reading biographies can be fascinating. Learning about the success and failures of past great, not so great, and the infamous can be fun, informative, and, at times, boring. But today’s FamSite gives a different perspective on how we learn about people and their lives.
Called Lives, the Biography Resource, it claims to be largest guide to biographical sites on the Internet. At first glance, it lives up to its claim quite well. There are hundreds of online biographies that are available for reading and printing out for off line use. Learn about Yuri Gagarin, Carl Sagan, Bud Abbott and Bella Abzug. Each listing takes a visitor to a site about that person. You can also look up biographies by collections such as profession (art, science, etc.), geographical regions (everywhere from Alabama to New Zealand and the lower east side of New York), and special classifications such as African American History and Women’s History.
This is a varied and interesting site. It is an excellent reference for a student, and for the casual reader who is interested in learning more about history and the personalities involved. Be sure to bookmark it and return often.
