Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends

Trains have always excited children (and brought out the children in grown-ups). The noise, the rush of steam, the smell of burning oil, diesel fumes, all those are associated with the world of trains. Especially on the Island of Sodor.

The Island of Sodor is the home of the main character in today’s web site. His name is Thomas the Tank Engine, and he is one of the most popular children’s fictional series of books. He works in a train yard, along with a lot of friends, such as Sir Topham Hat, James, Henry, Gordon, and Annie and Clarabelle, among others. He is very well known to viewers of Shining Time Station, a PBS program. The concept of these stories is to promote sharing, helping each other, not hold grudges, things that are at the very core of raising a child. This site is an excellent extension of the shows.
