Riders in the Sky
It’s summer and that means it’s county fair time, or state fair time, or some kind of jubilee is going on somewhere. In my neck of the woods, the Hood River County Fair is going on, with the usual carnival rides, livestock exhibits, and midway attractions. But the main event for me is also the subject of today’s FamSite. It’s a return visit with Woody Paul, Ranger Doug, and Too Slim.
In case you don’t recognize the names, you may know them better by their group name, Riders in the Sky. They help to preserve the music of the old singing cowboy movies, as well as contemporary and classic country and western, swing, and folk. At their site you can find out more about them, their careers, their music (including sound clips), and where they will be playing in the near future (such as tonight in Odell, Oregon, about 65 miles east of Portland). They are a quality act, entertaining to people of all ages, and will give a performance that will long be remembered, which they have been doing for over 20 years.
