Sports Roundup Online

One of the goals I had when I agreed to do this daily column was to feature web pages that were school based in subject matter. But I wanted to have something other than pages with links to educational sites, or mindless games. I was hoping to find some interesting and exciting sites.

And I found one for today’s column. It is called Sports Roundup Online, and is a local web page for the Wilmington (Mass.) High School sports team. It is a well written and maintained site that features the major sports activities of this school. There are stories on the state basketball tournament, where the #15 WHS Wildcats held off the #2 ranked team for most of the game, yet lost in the closing minutes. Hockey and football coverage are included, as well as local cable listings for educational access channels.

While this site is local in nature, it is a fun one to look at. There is a real high school atmosphere to it, what with the audio clips that can be downloaded, as well as being focused in the subject matter it covers. This would be an excellent site for someone planning a web page for a school to visit.

If you would like to nominate a site for Family Site of the Day, make a suggestion here.
