The Child-Friendly Initiative

It is a situation that all parents have dealt with at one time or another. You’re in a store, trying to shop, and your little ones are underfoot. It would be great to have a place to leave them for a few minutes while you did your shopping. Or waiting at an airport for a delayed flight, wouldn’t it be nice to have a place for young ones to wait. There are places for adults, but not many for kids. Today’s FamSite is one that is working to change those situation and more.

Called the Child-Friendly Initiative, this site is working to make real world space available in office buildings, public places, or government facilities. In short, places that adults can go, children should be welcome as well. It is their mission to encourage the development of active and healthy children by promoting an understanding of children’s needs and designing public and private spaces to ensure these needs are met. Here you can find out the details of this group, how you can become involved in it, and help to make your community more child-friendly.

This is a wonderful site, one that takes advantage of Internet technology to spread its message, and take its grass roots effort to the public. It is a wonderful cause, one that every parent (myself included) can identify with. Enjoy your stop here today, and pass it on to a friend.
