The Discovery Channel Online
Television, since it was invented, has been a blessing to the world of education. Before the wide spread use of it in classrooms, most audio/visual education was done by slide strips or movies (remember the guy that always ran the projector?). With the mating of television to cable and satellites, the educational uses seem endless.
Today’s site is an excellent example of how television can be used to educate in an entertaining fashion. The site, The Discovery Channel Online, is the Internet presence of one of the most popular cable networks, and it’s subsidiary channels. The Discovery Channel (channel 24 on my cable system) has a wide variety of programming that seems to be endless in subject matter, and is always original in it’s presentation. For example, this months’ programming includes Rockets Red Glare (a story on the Soviet rocket scientists) in the Inventor’s Corner, or learn about aliens’ home worlds in “Fresh Science”. There is also an online store for ordering products. Also included are links to the other Discovery Channel’s subsidiary channels, such as Science Network or Kids Channel, to name two.
So the next time you think you find you self web surfing, check out the Discovery Channel Online. It will give you some ideas of where to turn the next time you are channel surfing on the big screen television at home.

Please put Wing Nuts back on the air. I know the loss of Tim Roberts the show will lose some excitement but the personalities of Dave and Donaven are still enjoyable to watch. I watch the show to see the everyday task the small business faces and how Dave and Donaven over come them. And to see airplane parts turn into furniture and art. The show is so unique!
My God, don’t you have any other shows besides Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters? Come on guys give them a rest, put something else on! You guys give new meaning to the phrase heavy rotation. The same two shows over and over and over. What rocket scientist in programing came up with that idea?
