The Elephants of Cameroon

As our world expands, the relationship between man and beast changes. As civilization expands, the wilderness shrinks, and the animal kingdom suffers. Today’s FamSite is one that looks at efforts to change that shrinking.

Called The Elephants of Cameroon, it is a site that explores the mission of the North Carolina Zoo as they track and study these large animals. There is a section on the poaching of them, as well as a list of events of ongoing activities surrounding this study. There is an interesting section on activities and lessons that are geared towards basic educational areas such as math, geography, and computer sciences. There is a chance to ask questions, as well as on-going polls where one’s opinion can be counted.

This site is both educational and entertaining. It shows the true use of the Internet as a medium that not only communicates but teaches as well.
