The Gilbreth Network

When I was growing up, one of my favorite books to read was called “Cheaper by the Dozen”. It was the story of a large family from the early 20th century who had 12 children, and the adventures of growing up in such a large and loving family. It was based on a real-life family, and that family is the subject of today’s FamSite.

Called The Gilbreth Network, this site tells about the parents of those dozen children, Frank and Lillian Gilbreth. There was more to their life that what was written about in that book and the sequel “Belles on Their Toes”. They were the foremost researchers and scientists in the field of motion study, the results of which are still being applied to this day. This site is a place for those interested in those studies, and the Gilbreth family, to meet and exchange ideas. There are photos of the work of Dr. Lillian Gilbreth, and he designing kitchens, an excellent bibliography of books relating to the family and their work, and a discussion forum for topics that visitors want to discuss.
